Former RADA director arrested

In connection to an alleged fraud that had taken place at the Reconstruction and Development Agency’s (RADA) in 2006, former Finance and Administration Director of RADA Dr. Jayantha Samarasinghe was arrested by the Police Special Investigations Unit (SIU)

He was arrested on charges of having aided and abetted in the commission of this offence and approving vouchers issued to the contractors for the purpose of constructing houses for tsunami-affected people in the North and East.

Dr. Samarasinghe will be produced in the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today.
