29 PC Members Tour to Russia Despite Presidential Directive?

Central Province Governor Niluka Ekanayake said yesterday, that due to a communication gap between her and Chief Minister had ended up in 29 PC members travelling to Russia last morning despite Presidential guidelines. She said Chief Minister informed her that the President had verbally approved the foreign tour using unutilized Council funds allocated last year. She learned later that the President was unaware of the tour until he returned home from the US last night, the Governor said yesterday.

Under these Circumstances the Governor had ordered Council’s Chief Secretary to conduct a thorough inquiry in this matter and submit a full report to her. She will submit a report to the President based on Chief Secretary’s report, she concluded.
