Approval of Sub Committee Before Arresting VIPs

Followed by the controversial  statement made by the Head of the State, there were wide spread criticism made by individuals, Political Parties, Civil Societies etc. , a subcommittee said to have been established to preview arrest of former Ministers, MPs, High Ranking Government Officials etc. before arrest. Approval of the committee is a must before arrest.

However, when JVP Vijitha Herath was questioned by the Journalist on the proposed subcommittee, he said, “There is no provision in the constitution for the MPs to make decisions on various aspects such as determining who should be arrested when it comes to probing on corruption”.
