Kodi vs Kaashmora Box Office Collections: Dhanush film dominates Tamil Nadu, Karthi film rocks worldwide

Actor Dhanush’s Kodi and Karthi’s Kaashmora have emerged victorious at the box office. Departing from the tradition, both films were released on Friday, a day before Diwali. Usually, films in Tamil Nadu are released on the festival day as previous day people are busy preparing for the celebration.
However, both films have set the box office on fire since they opened in theatres. While Kaashmora is emerging as the biggest hit of Karthi’s career in terms of collection, Dhanush’s Kodi is here to make a mark.
According to reports in the first two days, Kaashmora has earned more than Rs 26 crore from its worldwide theatrical box office collection, while Kodi has collected Rs 15 crore from Tamil Nadu alone.
Kaashmora bettered its opening day collection by grossing Rs 8 crore in Tamil Nadu on Saturday.
Ramesh Bala, an industry tracker, provided the box office break-up of Kaashmora. In Tamil Nadu, the film has earned Rs 12.5 crore. From Andhra Pradesh and Telangana box office, the film raked in Rs 8 crore, and has made a total of Rs 2 crore from Kerala, Karnataka and other parts of the country. Considering its overseas collection, which is Rs 4 crore, its total worldwide collection is pegged at Rs 26.5 crore.
Kaashmora marked the biggest opening in terms of screen count in Karthi’s career as it released on over 1700 screens worldwide. The Tamil version of the film released on 150 screens and its Telugu version on 143 screens in the US.
However, going by the reports, Dhanush’s film has dominated Karthi’s film in the Tamil Nadu box office. Kodi has mostly opened to positive reviews from media and fans. The film has earned Rs 15 crore, while Kaashmora, which received mixed reviews, collected Rs 12.5 crore during the same period.
Kodi’s Telugu version titled Dharma Yogi, is also said to be doing well at the box office due to good word of mouth. The film is said to have seen 28 per cent occupancy in most of the theatres in Andhra Pradesh.
