Telephone Charges Increase by 49.73 % From Today .

 As the increased  Value Added Tax (VAT) come into operation  from today, telephone charges are to be increased by 49.73 % said,  Director General of the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of  Srilanka,   Sunil S.  Sirisena

Tax on Internet Data Packages had also been increased. Up to now  only 27% on telephone charges were imposed. But now due to increase in VAT , total Tax  will be increased by 50 %.

To be fair by the Government and consumers  revision of telephone charges is being considered. In this connection  Presidential Secretariat has prepared a proposal, said DG of  TRCSL.
