Rs 500, Rs 1000 currency abolished: Bollywood hails PM Narendra Modi’s bold step

Bollywood has for once come together to hail and support PM Narendra Modi’s decision to abolish Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes to curb black money. The decision which became effective from the midnight of November 8 effectively repeals Rs 500 and Rs 1000 rupee denominations as legal tender. Lauding PM Modi for taking this brave step, B-town celebs tweeted their congratulations and support.
Wrote Amitabh Bachchan, “T 2435 – the new 2000 rs note is PINK in colour … the PINK effect ..!!”
God of Indian cinema Rajinikanth tweeted, “Hats off @narendramodi ji. New india is born #JaiHind.”
Ajay Devgn tweeted, “100 सोनार की, 1 लोहार की। Masterstroke @narendramodi.”

Filmmaker Karan Johar tweeted, “This is truly a masterstroke move!!!! @narendramodi hits it out of the stadium!!!! ??”
Anurag Kashyap, one of Modi’s harshest critics, also had a different take. Without mentioning or tagging Modi, Anurag tweeted, “Ballsiest move I have ever seen from any leader.. It will cause a lot of heart ache but Kudos..Super way to make the black money redundant.”
Director Madhur Bhandarkar wrote, “Congratulations to @PMOIndia @narendramodi for this bold move to ban 500 and 1000 notes to counter #BlackMoney and strengthen our economy.”
Actor Riteish Deshmukh wrote, “Bold move by PM @narendramodi ji as the #1000rs #500rs notes become invalid/redundant. #NewIndia.”

Arjun Kapoor seemed not so happy as his tweets indicated. “The timing of the PM is interesting but the question is what will the government provide back to its fair & honest citizens after all this,” wrote Arjun.
Rishi Kapoor wrote, “PM Modi ji. Ball out of the stadium. Wohaaaaaa!!!! De monetisation is the right answer. Congratulations!”
