In a press conference held to announce cabinet decisions at the Ministry of Mass media yesterday Minister Rajitha Senaratne said, that we cannot accept everything what Army do as correct. Whoever wants to create problem in the North are the people who created AAVA group . I state that the former Defence Secretary Gota and a few Army officers had created the AAVA group. But the Former Defence Secretary had denied it. We cannot keep quite telling that all is done by Army. Just because they won the war we cannot allow them to commit offences . Can we accept if Lasantha Wickramathunga , Joseph Pararajasingham’s murder and Ekneligoda abduction done by Army ? Just because Gota served as the Defence Secretary, we cannot accept if he is involved in irregularities and corruption in MiG purchase . Just because he served as Defence Secretary in the country , he cannot be allowed to rob the country.
Now Northern Province Governor and State Minister of Defence said there is no connection between the Army and AAVA group. Why did they say like that ?. Now no one has said Army is involved in the AAVA group. Mahinda Rajapaksha had raised several things, but State Defence Minister has not replied any of it. But when we say something they jump over and reply it. I am firm in my position. I will be getting more details of AAVA group today. Then I will disclose it to the public, he said.
In answering question raised by journalists, he said that he had not mentioned Army is connected with AAVA group, but maintained It was created by Former Defence Secretary and a few Army officers of the Mahinda regime. Further he said AAVA group is activated in the north to create trouble so that election cannot held in the North, he concluded.
