Tissa Seeks Bail From Appeal Court
Former UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake is accused of forging the signatures of President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe when Sirisena was the common candidate of the opposition. He displayed a forged agreement between the two during the campaign.
Attanayake is accused of inciting communal disharmony and is charged under the ICCPR Act.
He was remanded by the Colombo High Court as he is charged under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights Act. A bail application filed by him was rejected by the High Court.
