Thushara Dewalagama a 37 year old father of two was found murdered in the Ratnapura Dela, Noragalwatte area Yesterday (29). He was apparently a forefront supporter of former UNP MP (Mrs.) Thalatha Atukorala. The deceased was said to have been beaten to death by an unidentified group of men state Police sources.
The assault had taken place when Mr. Dewalagama was travelling on a motorbike to coordinate Mrs. Atukorala’s election campaign work.
This is the first election related murder since the General election was announced though incidents regarding damaging cut-outs were reported from Anuradhapura and Kurunegala stated CAFFE director Keerthi Tennakon.
