Ceylon Motorcyclist Association Request President to Review Rs 25, 000 Fine For Traffic Offences

 Although Ceylon Motorcyclist  Association welcomed this proposal to impose Rs 25, 000  for selected 6 traffic offences , it is not practically possible  in respect  of over speed and overtaking on the left .

During traffic congestion overtaking on left side causing  death cannot be completely ignored by us, we accept. We never justify it. But our plea is Rs 25, 000 fine is too much to  bear it. Average monthly salary of  a person  using motorcycle is generally less Rs 25, 000 or less than it. Hence, consider the plight of the family  and request  the President to impose  fine according  to the value of the vehicles . Further their  letter  states  that  before proposing  such a  higher fine, they  should consider it  with   a human touch,  they insisted.
