Today is the 18th day of the Committee Stage Debate of the 2017 Budget.
Members of Parliament will today debate the Expenditure Heads of the Ministries of Hill Country, Infrastructure and Community Development, Regional Development, Rural Economic Affairs, Special Assignments and Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the Joint Opposition says, the government has failed to achieve expected results with the formation of the Ministry of Digital Infrastructure.
United People’s Freedom Alliance Parliamentarian Ranjith Soysa said all projects that were initiated by the Ministry have been a total failure.
MP Soysa said the Joint Opposition has a major concern and questioned the motive behind setting up the Ministry.
He said the government promised free-WiFi, adding it has now become only a dream.
MP Soysa added the government increased mobiles phone charges also charging that the Google Balloon did not last either.
