Constitutional Council Recommends Action Against IGP to President

Recently  while IGP Pujith Jayasundara  was  addressing a meeting at Rathnapura,  he received a telephone call and IGP replied  in front of  microphone and public thus   ‘’ yes sir , Nilame  no arrest without my knowledge , sure sir , and no worries ‘’

This  talk by   IGP had gone viral    and several electronic media had broadcast , telecast  visuals and audio recordings .  Civil societies have  raised the issue with the President.

The Constitutional Council has summoned  the  IGP Pujith Jeyasundara on last Thursday(8) and obtained his explanation . Subsequently   the  Constitutional Council met on Friday (9) and carefully analyzed the explanation given by the IGP. At the end,  the Constitutional Council decided to recommend action against  IGP to the President.  Accordingly, Constitutional Council  has sent their  recommendation to the President.
