Island wide Dengue Eradication Programe

74 deaths have been reported due to dengue this year. Ministry of health said  dengue is spreading in many districts.
Particularly, the disease is prevalent in Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle, Jaffna, Rathnapura, Kurunegala, Puttalam, Batticaloa and Ampara.
A special dengue elimination programme has been implemented throughout the island with the help of all MoH offices.
Members of three armed force, police, civil defence force and public health officials will also join  the fight  against  dengue.
The main objective is to identify the mosquito breeding places and destroy them with the help of mosquito control Exterminators.
The Ministry states that leave from duty of health officers in 10 districts where the treat is high has been cancelled. A special circular has been issued in this regard.
Ministry stated that 25,000 rupee fine will be imposed on the people who run dengue mosquito breeding places.
Dengue eradication programme continues even today.
