SLTB Unions Demand Ex gratia Payment For Leave Cancellation on 2nd December

Private bus operators struck work on 2nd of December 2016.  The SLTB employees rose to the occasion and worked hard to ease public transport  to a greater extend. During this period their leave was  cancelled.
Trade unions of the Sri Lanka Transport Board have demanded a 10,000 rupee allowance for all employees who reported to work on the 2nd of December.  In a letter to President Maithripala Sirisena the trade unions highlighted that they hope to receive the sum of money before January 2017.
The letter indicates that the compensation fee would be helpful for employees with children especially taking into consideration the upcoming new school year.
