JVP Against Granting Powers to SAITM

 In a press conference held today(20) JVP MP Bimal Ratnayake said,  that the previous regime led by Mahinda  Rajapaksha broken laws of the land and allowed  to establish SAITM in the year 2014.  On direction given by the then Minister of Higher Education  S. B. Dissanayake ,  then Ministry Secretary  Sunil Jayantha Navaratna  had issued a gazette notification on 26^th September 2013 authorizing  to issue certificate by SAITM.   This is done in the  morning,  but in the evening another gazette notification issued by the same  Secretary stating that SAITM had powers as from 20^th August 2011. Current Higher Education Minister Lakshman Kiriella said, that all these things were done by the previous Government and they cannot do anything. But the Minister of Higher Education has the powers to rescind earlier decision. Instead of doing it they are trying to  give  more powers  to SAITM  concluded, Bimal Ratnayake.
