Health service drivers in the North Central Province launched a strike action on December 21 based on several demands including the establishing of health driver service in provincial councils which did not have them. The trade union action received the support of health service drivers island-wide and other heath sector trade union from yesterday (28). However, the Secretary to the association, Amarananda Waduge, said that a decision was reached to call off the strike as the Health Minister had agreed to provide solutions to their problems.
The Government Health Service Ambulance and Transport Drivers of the North Central Province have decided to end their strike action after discussions held with the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr Rajitha Senaratne.
