Rajitha Slams Development (Special Provision) Bill Makers

Speaking at an event held at the Health Ministry, Co-Cabinet Spokesman Minister of Health Rajitha Senaratne said,  the bill has been compiled without  consulting   Chief Ministers  and people concerned before its formulation .   Further,  the people who have  prepared it appears to have had no  knowledge of the law.
The Minister said such bills are essential in order to convert Sri Lanka into an investment-friendly country. Hence, Development Special Provisions Draft Bill will be re-submitted with the ideas and views of all parties.
Meanwhile, the United National Party commented on the Development Special Provisions Draft Bill during a media briefing held at the party headquarters Sirikotha this morning.
MP Nalin Bandara said the objective of the Draft Bill is to only fast track development projects.
The MP said the Development Special Provisions Draft Bill was introduced to fast track development in the island in order to provide a suitable environment for investors adding that this bill was not introduced to create a Super Ministerial portfolio.
MP Bandara said it was introduced to create an environment suitable for a super country. This is a highway to develop the country faster adding that it will not provide superior powers to any Minister.
The MP said no one in the present government has a mania to obtain superior powers either adding that there were individuals who obtained superior powers during the previous tenure even without passing any bills.
MP Nalin Bandara said certain individuals attached to the previous tenure of the United People’s Freedom Alliance led government  obtained Super Ministerial powers.
MP Bandara said under the Rajapakse Regime 60% of state institutions came under the authority of the family adding that former Minister Basil Rajapakse not only headed his Ministry but was also involved with other ministries unofficially.
MP Bandara said when Namal Rajapakse was an MP in the Previous Regime he interfered in other ministries affairs and used their powers himself adding that it was then that these super Ministers existed.
