Mahinda Toppling The Govt. is Not a Reality – SB

Ex-president Mahinda Rajapaksa’s statement that he would topple the government next year will not be a reality, says minister S.B. Dissanayake, noting that only  Maithripala Sirisena has the power and the strength to decide a continuation or an overthrowing of the present regime.
In an interview with BBC Sandeshaya, Dissanayake was responding to a remark Rajapaksa made to foreign journalists in Colombo yesterday (29).
S.B. Dissanayake  admitted the government was  facing  difficulties  as it is a  National   Government .  National Government   was formed  due to the fault of the former president Mahinda.
The government is existing despite the differences between the UNP and the SLFP, he said adding that Rajapaksa did not listen to their requests to name his elder brother Chamal as the prime ministerial candidate and allow president Maithripala Sirisena to lead the campaign for the general election.
Had their request been granted, a SLFP government with around 120 seat could have been formed, according to Dissanayake.
He added that president Sirisena’s having formed a UNP-SLFP coalition government saved the country from the disaster perpetrated both locally and internationally during the Rajapaksa regime.
