Archaeological Research in the East Further divide Different Races – Rauff Hakeem
Member of the British House of lords met Minister of Urban Development ,Water Supply & Drainage Rauff Hakeem at his resident yesterday(3) He enquired about the situation in the North and East. In response Rauff Hakeem told him that although 6 years have passed since the end of war land problem in the North East remains unsettled to date. Further he said, that certain radical religious group has claimed presence of religious archaeology findings in areas, where minority community is living in concentration. This is an attempt to distract the government. They had have several discussions with the state regarding cultivation done by farmers over 100 years in their native paddy fields . But the problem of all farmers remains unsettled.
He added that when Muslims were resettled in their own native land adjoining Wilpattu National Park. A group protested against it and misled the President to issue a gazette notification extending the peri meter of the Wilpattu National Park affecting resettlement . Resettlement of Muslims in the North is carried out on a slow pace as expected foreign funds not yet received by the state. As far as Muslims are concerned they engaged in business , tailoring and agriculture . All these resources are now remains unsettled . Hence , they face economic problem.
Regarding a new law to be introduced in place of Prevention of Terrorism Act (PT) Rauff Hakeem said, it is now being examined by a Parliamentary committee before introducing as a bill.
