PM Orders IGP to Submit Mirijjawila Incident Report

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has ordered the Inspector General of Police to submit him a report on the incidents which occurred at the inauguration ceremony of the Chinese Industrial Zone in Mirijjawila, Hambantota, on 7^th  January, and to explore the incidents to ensure whether there was deliberate sabotage of the event. The PM has ordered IGP Pujith Jayasundera to clearly state whether there was any segment or group involved in an attempt to scuttle the government’s development programmes.

He  has also asked the IGP to identify those behind the violence in Hambantota and brief him accordingly, so that he could highlight them publicly as a deterrent to those looking to indulge in similar acts in the future.
