Regulating Three Wheeler Operations in Srilanka

Having considered complaints of exorbitant rate charged by unmetered three wheel operators and increasing three wheeler accidental deaths, Ministry of Transport has come forward to regularise operations of three wheelers in Srilanka. As a first step they propose to include certain regulations and gazette it.

Secretary to the Ministry of transport said, that the gazette notification will compel three wheeler drivers to fix meters and charge accordingly from commuters. A grace period will be given for them to fix meters. After the grace period, it is a must that all three wheelers operating in Srilanka should be fixed with a meter, he said.
