Defence Ruwan Under Took to Resolve issues connected with Involuntary Disappearances

Families of those disappeared engaged in fast unto death mission  in Vavuniya. As participant’s health condition deteriorated, Chief Minister of the Northern Province C. Wigneshwaran  brought to the notice  of the President about the critical condition  and suggested to sent a Minister to assure Sathyagrahis  to give up fast unto death.
In response  State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardene visited Sathyagrahis and assured that their issues will be discussed with the President and the Prime Minister.
Further, he said measures will be taken to discuss the issues at the Temple Trees while the progress of the investigations will be informed to the families of those disappeared. In addition,  issues faced by the families will be discussed at length with Minister of Law and Order Sagala Ratnayake, Minister of Justice Wijedasa Rajapaksa and the Inspector General of Police at the Temple trees in two weeks.
Followed by assurances given Sathyagrahis gave up their fast unto death.
