Minor oil Leak at Colombo Port

A minor oil leak was detected in the supply line between Colombo port and Kolonnawa, where the oil is stored.

Petroleum Industries Minister Chandima Weerakkody confirmed the leak and said Petroleum Corporation and Ports Authority officers were working to stem it.

He further said,  that the leak occurred on one of the four pipelines supplying oil within the harbour itself while measures have been taken to prevent the oil mixing with sea water.  However, the supplying of oil has been temporarily halted now and will resume once the repair are complete, Weerakkody concluded.
