Unqualified Saheli Gained Admission to SAITM with Mahinda’s Help?

Minimum qualification criteria laid down by SAITM for medical faculty:

Admission is done according to U.G.C. criteria in the Biology Stream. Qualifying subjects are Biology, Chemistry and Physics / Mathematics from Local G.C.E. Advanced Level or London Advanced Level / International Advanced Level. International applicants may apply with equivalent foreign qualifications. All student admissions will be subject to approval by the University Grants Commission and Higher Education Ministry of Sri Lanka.

Saheli Gamage, who sang the song ‘Ayubo Wewa Maha Rajaneni’ in praise of Mahinda Rajapaksa, has gained admission to SAITM, the private medical college at Malabe, without obtaining the minimum qualifications specified in para1, but with the help of the ex-president.

She is one of the two students who had gained admission to SAITM without the qualifications.

However, Rajapaksa is now taken a stance against the private medical college.

A road was named after Saheli after she sang the ‘Ayubo Wewa Maha Rajaneni’ song.
