Forcible Disappearance Declared as an Offence in Gazette Notification

On  orders given  by the Prime Minister  Ranil Wickramasinghe  a gazette notification has been issued  declaring forcible disappearance as an offence.  On the 7^th of February 2017 the cabinet has approved , the publication of  this in the gazette . However,   in order to make it an Act  it should be passed with majority in Parliament. Due to past  uprising in the country,  civil war in North East 65,000 people have disappeared .  In the meantime, it has be mentioned that, this gazette notification was issued as part of the obligation given to the International community.
