64 New Political Parties for Registration with Election Commission

In the year 2011 when nomination  was called for Pradhesa Saba election in Mullaitivu, a case was filed against it. Since then registration of new political parties suspended.

After 5 years lapse election commission called for registration of new political parties between February 1^st and 28^th February 2017.

Already 64 political parties had been registered with the election commission. In addition, now 64 new political parties have applied for registration. Chairman of the election commission is likely to appoint a committee to peruse their applications before registration.
