Even Free Lunch Packets Failed to Attract Crowds
An Uva MP who was rejected by the electorate was lucky enough to make it to Diyawanna. When President paid an official visit to Uva to inaugurate a big development project in the province, he wanted to display his popularity . Hence, he ordered 3,500 lunch packets to be given to participants. But only half the number attended. He wanted to make use of the left out lunch packets. In disposing left out lunch packets in a hurry had sent a number of parcels to a political office of a member of the Former Royal Family, now an arch political rival of him.
