Fraud in Motor Spares Sales: 30 Caught in Raid in Panchikawatta

On direction given by the  Minister  of Industry and Commerce  Rishad Bathiudeen, Chairman of the  Consumer Affairs Authority  has enhanced  the  raids.  The inspectors of the Consumer Affairs Authority drawn  from  Gampaha  and Kalutra joined in hands  with the Colombo staff raided vehicle spare parts outlets in Panchikawatta yesterday.
During the raid they found motor spares imported from China were relabelled and stamped as imported from Japan and Germany . Further they found prices were not marked on certain  spares.
In the raid 30 traders  were nabbed yesterday. Disputed motor spares taken over  by the Consumer Affairs Authority will be subjected to check and confirmation. Once confirmed 30 traders will be produced along with the spares before the Maligakanda Magistrate.
