Govt’s Determined Efforts Reduce Smoking by 47%

Minister of Health Rajitha Senaratne said, that a 47 per cent decline in smoking has been recorded due to the measures taken by the present government to discourage smoking. Further he said, that additional measures  are being taken to further reduce smoking  habit  in the island.
He said the government has to incur an expense of  Rs 72 billion annually to treat those who fall ill due to smoking. He will submit  a cabinet paper which includes the rules and regulations that prevent the sale of individual cigarette.
