Sword cutting incidents in the North especially in Pointpedro is in increasing trend. Last Sunday night an old man was cut by a sword. Though this incident was reported to police, no one was arrested. Adding fuel to fire another person was said to be cut by sword. Youths in the North are reported to have been parading in motorcycles swinging sword freely. As people fear for their lives they sought refuge in temple located in front of the Pointpedro court. As police has failed to control this sword cutting groups they refuse to leave the temple until an assurance is given to them for their lives. Police called over there and persuaded them to go back to their homes. As police assured security they returned to their homes.
