Raviraj Murder: Court of Appeal Ordered AG to Obtain the Assistance of CID

A petition filed by the wife of Raviraj, Sasikala Nadarajah, was taken up for hearing today. The Court of Appeal today(28) ordered the Attorney General to obtain the assistance of the Criminal Investigations Department in handing out notice to the suspects in the murder of Former Tamil National Alliance Parliamentarian Nadarajah Raviraj.
The attorney representing the defendants tabling details before the Appeals Court said the notice could not be handed over as the details of the suspect’s locations could not be traced.Appeals Court informed the Attorney General to seek the assistance of the CID in handing over the notices.
The petition filed by Sasikala Nadarajah claims that it is against the law for a High Court to hear a case before a jury when the suspects were charged under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
The case will be heard once again on the 19th  July 2017 . The five suspects named as Respondents in the petition, who were acquitted and released, were issued notices to appear before court today.
Former TNA MP Nadarajah Raviraj was assassinated on the 10th of November 2006 in Narahenpita.
