Industry and Commerce Ministry Secretary Refute Sugar Tender Allegation

 Regarding  Sugar Tender allegation  made  in  a few  Sinhala news papers recently, the  Secretary, Ministry of Industry and Commerce T.M.K.B. Tennakoon responded thus :-

‘’ Ministry of Industry and Commerce follows  due procedures and function. In respect of sugar sale Ministry has taken  steps in accordance with the regulations. In these activities  there is no involvement of the  Minister Rishad Bathiudeen. Minister is not a ethanol dealer or seller and he has no connection what so ever in this matter . Further he said, while press could easily contact.

Chairmen, Board of Directors and high authorities in 36 organizations functioning under the Ministry to verify  authenticity of any news, they should avoid publishing false news  affecting their credibility. News published about sugar, ethanol connecting  the Minister   is an utter lie, he concluded.

In this press conference Consumer Protection Authority Director General A.R.D.D. Arandara, Sevanagala sugar cooperation Chairman Nalin  Adikara too participated in this press conference held yesterday (11)
