JVP Blames IGP for Not Providing Security to Bond Scam Commission Officials

Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Leader and Member of Parliament Anura Kumara Dissanayake blamed  the IGP  for not providing  security to officials investigating the alleged the Central Bank  bond fraud. Despite request made by  them to provide security  Inspector General of Police (IGP) does not take any action, then once again suspicion arises as to whether the IGP is either directly or indirectly providing protection to the alleged fraudsters. The JVP leader said, it is the responsibility of the IGP to provide protection to the officials who are engaged in investigating the alleged fraud, involving Treasury Bonds. This is serious offence.

The parliamentarian claimed that it was the former Governor of the Central Bank Arjuna Mahendran who was the culprit in the alleged Treasury Bond fraud, where Rs 5.6 billion had been improperly earned by his son-in-law Arjuna Aloysius within an year, through his company Perpetual Treasuries. He claimed that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is openly protecting the culprit and his property.
