Lucrative Business of importing Spares and Assembling 250cc Motorbike

A resident of Aanddi Ambalama area called Sinhala Pelige Charith Lakshan, 26 years old youth has involved in dismantling motorbikes purchased in Japan and despatched to Srilanka. Despatched motor spares are collected in Srilanka by him. He assembled it and sold the 250cc bikes at higher prices thus avoiding payment of custom duty. To import a 250 cc motorbike with custom duty cost 12 lakhs. After assembling the motorbike, he forged documents and sold the bikes to unsuspected buyers at Rs 12 lakhs. Assembled motorbikes without documentation were sold between Rs.5 and 5.5 lakhs. On a tip of received, Negombo police has raided his resident, recovered a few assembled 250 cc motorbikes and arrested him.
