AH1N1 Influenza Cases Reported in Several Parts of SL

Making clarifications at the Cabinet media briefing yesterday Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne said, that AH1N1 influenza cases reported in several parts of the country did not suggest the disease had reached epidemic levels, despite some media reports to that effect.

He said the Ministry of Health has only received information of 528 AH1N1 positive cases since the beginning of March. He added that from among 3,548 patients only 528 cases had been confirmed as AH1N1 positive.

Asked about the 17 deaths reported in Kandy and Matale, he said the Ministry of Health has not received any related mortality reports.
