JICA commends Sri Lanka’s Performance

The Japan International Cooperation Agency Chairman Shinichi Kitaoka has commended the government for the progress achieved in Sri Lanka and redirecting the country towards development through economic stability within a short period of time of assuming office. He further said that, the JICA is in the process of compiling preliminary reports for the Kandy Municipal Plan and the proposed Light Rail System.
JICA Chairman Kitaoka made these remarks when he called on Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in Tokyo during Premier Wickremesinghe’s official visit to Japan. The Chairman of JICA said they are fast-tracking the plans and speeding up the process by 30 per cent. JICA has already undertaken and completed several projects in the past. Extensive discussions were also held on obtaining assistance from JICA to produce drinking water through sea water, establish higher education institutes and establish a Bogambara Cultural Center.
