The public in the North and the East of the country staged a harthal today (27), requesting the government to release the land retained by the army back to the public, to account for the missing individuals, who disappeared from the area and against the gazette notification on Wilpattu which included areas where Muslims were resettled .
The harthal will be staged from 6.00am to 6.00pm today.
The harthal has received the support of the TNA, Srilanka Makkal Congress , Sri Lanka Muslim Congress and many other political parties.
