Sachin Tendulkar awarded Asian Awards Fellowship

India batting great and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar added yet another award to his collection. The Indian cricketer was awarded The Fellowship Award at the Asian Awards in London on Friday. The former cricketer has become only the fourth person ever to receive The Fellowship Award since the inception of these awards seven years ago.

Before Tendulkar, the Asian Awards have only recognized three people — the late Ravi Shankar, Sir Ben Kingsley and Jackie Chan for the award. The last recipient, Jackie Chan received it in 2014.

This is not the first time Tendulkar is receiving an award at the Asian Awards. The Little Master was awarded the “Lebara People’s Choice” award at the inagural Asian Awards back in 2010.

Founded in 2010, the Asian Awards recognise the achievements of people belonging to Asia who have done well.

Tendulkar is regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in cricket and has played international cricketer a 24 years. He began his Test career in 1989 against Pakistan and retired in 2013 against West Indies at his home ground in Mumbai.

Tendulkar has almost all batting record a batsman desires for, including most runs in Tests and ODIs. He also has most number of centuries in both formats. His total international centuries are a record 100.
