Geetha’s Petition in SC to be Heard Today

Followed by the  Court of Appeal  ruling  that United People’s Freedom Alliance Galle District MP Geetha Kumarasinghe cannot hold a Parliamentary post as she holds dual citizenship and was against the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, Geetha Kumarasinghe  said to have been unseated  due to the verdict of the Court of Appeal, announced General Secretary of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake .
She has filed a petition  in the Supreme Court against the  decision of the Court of Appeal and sought revision.
The Supreme Court  issued a Stay Order pertaining to the suspension of the Parliamentary post of Geetha Kumarasinghe on Friday, the 12th of May 2017.
The Attorney representing the petitioner stated in court that Geetha Kumarasinghe has been adversely affected through the decision of General Secretary of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake , who announced through media that the Parliamentary seat of Geetha Kumarasinghe has been vacated. The Supreme Court will take petition for inquiry today.
