Grenade Found at SLMC to be Investigated by CCD

The Security Guard on duty on the night of 12 May had heard  some sound  of  something  falling within the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC)  premises at about 11.45 pm.
 Next day on  13th  around 6.45 am He had seen a hand grenade lying on the ground opposite the gate of the SLMC. Immediately  he had  informed the Police Emergency services on 119.
The Maradana Police  in response  acted quickly  and ensured  the area was secured before calling in the Special Task Force (STF).
The STF  came later and removed the grenade from the premises and deactivated it at a cemetery in Grandpass.
The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) has  commenced an investigation into the discovery of a hand grenade at the premises of the SLMC located at Norris Canal Road in Maradana.
