Bail Granted But Travel Ban Imposed on Mahindananda
When the case of misusing Rs 39 million from funds of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Trade Union Federation and criminal breach of trust was taken by the Colombo High Court today, Colombo High Court today released Former Sports Minister cum Joint Opposition MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage on bail .
The indictments were read in the court today and the counsel for the accused stated his objections on the area of jurisdiction of the case filed.
Colombo High Court Judge Sampath Wijeratne fixed the date to hear the preliminary objections on 27th June 2017 and released the parliamentarian on two sureties of Rs. 2 million each.
However, the Magistrate has also imposed a travel ban on the MP and ordered him to surrender his passport to the court.
