A special committee lead by Nimal Siripala has been appointed to discuss the necessary amendments that should be made to the existing constitution.
The SLFP Central Committee met yesterday under the Chairman ship of President Maithripala Sirisena at president’s house last evening. The interim report of the Constitutional Council (CC) headed by Nimal Siripala was taken up for discussion .
The Central Committee added that the necessary disciplinary action should be taken against the ministers working against the policies that have been proposed by the SLFP.
Chief Minister Shan Wijayalal de Silva said that the attention of the Central Committee Meeting was also drawn on taking disciplinary action against the SLFP and UPFA members , who breach the provisions of the party constitution.
MP Kumar Welgama raised the issue of future of the Executive Presidency and called for views for and against on continuing the current position several members expressed their views on this matter.
