New Security at BIA From 1st June

It has been decided to implement a new security system from 1 June 2017 with the objective of providing protection to airlines at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).
According to the new security system, the quantity of liquids, sprays and gels that can be taken in hand luggage of an Airline passenger, has been restricted further.
Manager of the Bandaranaike Airport and Air services company H. S. Hettiarachchi made this statement at a press briefing held at the Bandaranaike Airport yesterday(24).
The quantity of all these liquids collectively should not be more than one litre and containers with liquids should be packed into transparent bags that can be sealed properly, such as polythene bags. An airline passenger is allowed to take only such a bag on board the aircraft. In addition if medicines as well as ingredients for children’s food need to be taken on board, they have to be certified by a doctor and the prescription should be retained with the passenger, he concluded.
