President Visits Jaffna Today

Fasting struggle carried out by parents and relatives of those , who were made involuntary disappearance has reached its’112 th day in Killinochi. In Mullaithievu and Vavuniya too they observed fasting for the 96 th and 108 th day respectively.

On 30 th last month, its’ 100 th day in Killinochi , participants blocked the main road and carried out their struggle. On assurance given to them by the President through Northern Province Governor’s Office that he would meet them and address the issue within two weeks, they dispersed.

In order to fulfill the assurance, President Maithreepala Sirisena is visiting Jaffna today. He is scheduled to hold discussions in the Governor’s Office and Jaffna Secretariat. Representatives of parents and relatives of persons made involuntarily disappeared are expected to meet him.
