GMOA Blames Toxic Material Used in Printing of Student Textbooks

The Government Medical Officer’s Association (GMOA) has  blamed the Ministry of Education for allowing the use of toxic chemicals in printing school text books, which will harm the children who used them. GMOA  added that the paper used in the textbooks can cause various sorts of respiratory difficulties, eye disorders and organ disorders.
The GMOA further said,  that 500, 000 textbooks have already been printed, which have cost around Rs. 150 million.
The Commissioner General of the Education Publications Department I.M.K.D. Illangasinghe categorically stated  that the printing of 7th graders, and teachers guides has been carried out according to proper publication and printing standards.
