The strike launched by united postal trade union front during the last three days have resulted more than one million letters piled up at the central postal exchange and other post offices. They struck work demanding on several issues including a demand to give up the proposal to release historically significant buildings that are currently used as post offices to establish a tourist hotel project.
After overnight discussion held last night with postal department authorities including the post master general, they suspended the strike from 6am today.
United postal trade union front co-convener H. A. Kariyawasam said, that if the authorities did not respond to their demands as promised, the union would re launch the strike .
