Elections Commission to Call Nomination For 3 PCs on 2nd October

The Chairman of the Elections Commission Mahinda Deshapriya said, that the period of  North Central, Sabaragamuwa and the Eastern Provincial Councils will expire on 1^st October 2017.

Hence, the Elections Commission would issue the Gazette notification calling for nominations on October 2, 2017 for above three Provincial Councils. He further said, that the Election could only be postponed  by bringing  amendment to Article 154 E of the Constitution.

The Elections Commission has announced  its position on calling nomination for  polls on three  PCs  to the representatives of the political parties last week.
