The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has extended former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s driver placement in remand custody till 18th July .
The chauffeur and another individual were previously arrested in connection with alleged misuse of state-owned property.
The Colombo Magistrate Court today (11) ordered that the two arrestees be placed in remand custody till 18th July 2017 .
Tissa Wimalasena and Lal Sirisena were arrested by the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) for allegedly running a rock quarry illegally on land belonging to the Land Reclamation Commission, consequently costing the Government over Rs. 20 million in losses.
Colombo Additional Magistrate, Chanima Wijebandara also made a ruling on the suspect’s request for bail and stated that sufficient information was not provided to support grant of bail.
