Gang Rape Attempt Foiled in the North

Yesterday (11) morning  around 7.30 am ,while a  18 year old G.C.E.(AL)  student of a Mallakam School was crossing the road on yellow line in Tellipalai, 6 member gang  dragged her  into a white van and sped away from the scene.

On the way while the van was moving they tried to force her to drink some drink, which she refused to drink. Then they tried to molest her inside the van for a  long time. She fought tooth and nail  with them and foiled their attempt.

As their attempt to gang rape her failed, they pulled her and thrown  out of running van in Kodikamam and vanished. She got wounded in her leg and found unconscious on the side of the road. People who have seen her lying  on the roadside in school uniform took her to Chavakachheri  Hospital and admitted her immediately. Subsequently, she has been transferred to Jaffna hospital for complete medical tests and treatment.

Chavakachcheri and Mallakam police are conducting further investigations.
