The Government has decided to allocate 300 million rupees to district secretariats as emergency compensation for those affected by Uma Oya Project..Further steps such as repair and renovate 6 small tanks, construct tube wells in suitable areas to connect area residents to clean water sources was also decided. Above constructive steps will be taken in respect of 32 Grahama Niladhari divisions affected as a result of the project.
Accordingly it has been decided that 300 million rupees will be allocated to district secretariats as emergency compensation for those affected. Additionally steps will be taken to repair and renovate 6 small tanks damaged due to the project and additionally to construct tube wells in suitable areas to connect area residents to clean water sources. In the meantime, the Presidents Media Division noted the Head of State had issued directives to renovate 18 schools affected as a result of the project.The government also decided to release land to citizens to relocate and to assess damages to roads as a result of the project.
Additionally steps will be taken to exempt those who have taken bank loans over damages caused for two years.
